Wind elevates fire concerns
Wind gusts on Monday reach 40-50+ mph at times. Thankfully it wasn’t any stronger or we would have been talking about dust storms materializing. Thankfully they didn’t on a widespread level.
Wind is still an issue in another way on Tuesday. Gusts won’t be quite as high but still enough to create concern as they reach 35 mph from the northwest. The concern is for fires to spread quickly as we’ll also have a relatively dry airmass and a growing season that is still in its infancy. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Tuesday.
The conditions will be most ripe during the daytime hours until just before sunset. Hold off on any planned burns or activities that could lead to a spark igniting a fire.
